Music in the mountains

Music of High Northern Plains
The high Northern Plains
the Jagged and white silver
mountain flutes. The song
in the reeds a symphany.

Wind, flutters, thunder.

Birds wing and the breadth
of Swans lungs are a harp
with strings of lightning.

A storm from the Big Horns
Closes in, then rises upward
through feathered scales
of insturmental winds.

The heavy blue wing,
musculature music in
silver keys, flapping
closed-then opening
in a delicate flashing.

As fingered memories,
return, passing through
the appetures of thunder,
sounding out steely blues.
